Storm to bring mixture of rain, sleet, snow to region

Jessica Spaccio, a climatologist with the NOAA-funded Northeast Regional Climate Center at Cornell University, reviews the forecast as a coastal storm approaches the region.

Spaccio says:

“A coastal storm is developing and is expected to bring accumulating snow to the Finger Lakes area. A winter storm watch is in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday morning.

“Mixed precipitation – rain, snow, freezing rain, and sleet – will begin late Monday night through Tuesday, changing to all snow Tuesday afternoon and continuing through Wednesday evening.

“The snow is expected to be heavy at times making travel conditions hazardous.”
