Cornell University and the Excelsior Scholarship and Enhanced Tuition Awards program

Statement from Vice President for University Relations Joel Malina:

“We applaud Governor Cuomo and state lawmakers for making access to higher education a leading issue this legislative session, and Cornell is pleased to partner with the state in making even more financial aid available to income-eligible New York state resident students.

“In-state students attending one of Cornell University’s three undergraduate contract colleges who meet state income requirements will be eligible for Excelsior Scholarship funds. And Cornell has opted-in to the Enhanced Tuition Awards (ETA) program, which will make qualifying New York state resident students attending our endowed colleges eligible to apply for additional state financial aid and the linked match in additional Cornell grant aid.

“Cornell’s institutional grant aid annual expenditure has more than tripled in the last 20 years, and that number is expected to exceed $239 million in 2017, helping to defray tuition and living costs to undergraduate students with financial need.”
